


Christine Downey
Christine Downey began her dance training at an early age in Delaware. While training in Delaware, Christine performed numerous roles with the Ballet Theater of Dover including Snow Queen and Arabian in The Nutcracker, Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty and Medora in Le Corsaire.
Christine went on to continue her dance training at the University of the Arts, on scholarship, where she obtained a BFA in Ballet Performance. As a dance major Christine had the opportunity to study under notable teachers such as Christine Cox, Michael Sheridan, Scott Jovovich, Eva Szabo, Anastasia Babayeva, Molly Misgalla, Curt Haworth, Jennifer Johnson and Kim Bears-Bailey. During her time at UArts she performed numerous pieces including “As Time Goes By” by Twyla Tharp (set by Beatrice Rodriquez-former Joffrey Ballet Member), “The Frug” by Bob Fosse (set by Scott Jovovich) and original works by Christine Cox. In 2009 Christine was awarded the Aleksej Judenic Ballet Prize from the University of the Arts. Her professional credentials include Philadelphia Soul Dancer (2005-2006), BalletX Summer Intern (2009) and performing with the Atlantic City Ballet in The Nutcracker (2009-2010).
Christine has been teaching various styles of dance for the past 10 years. Her work has won choreography, technical excellence and top score awards at numerous regional and national competitions. She is extremely excited to be a part of the Contempro Dance Theater staff!
